In an advisory posted on its Twitter account, the MMDA said, "Number Coding will be lifted on Monday, January 23, 2012 in Metro Manila."
The MMDA, in a later tweet, said the lifting of the number coding will also apply to Makati and Las Piñas Cities.
Jan. 23, the Chinese New Year, is considered a special nonworking day in the Philippines by virtue of Proclamation 295 issued in November last year.
The number coding scheme is a plan to ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila by barring vehicles from major roads at peak hours, depending on the last digit of their license plates.
Had the number coding scheme been in effect, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 would have been barred from Metro Manila's main roads from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
