Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo Jr., the Department of Foreign Affairs admitted Thursday there is still no definite date on when the body will arrive.
DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said the Philippine embassy in London is in touch with the late congressman's family, and giving assistance to them.
"Wala pang abiso galing sa ating embahada. We are hoping it will be soon," Hernandez said in an interview on dwIZ radio when asked when Arroyo's remains will arrive.
In the meantime, he said the DFA is helping Arroyo's family in "documentary requirements" for the repatriation of the late lawmaker's remains.
Arroyo, who represented Negros Occidental's fifth legislative district, died last week after a lingering illness.
The Visayan Daily Star last week quoted Arroyo's sister, former Kasangga Rep. Ma. Lourdes Arroyo, as saying Ignacio Jr. suffered from cardiac arrest at about 7 a.m. (Manila time). He was revived and put on life support.
She said his death took the family by surprise and they were in a daze.
Just days before, her brother called, saying he will come home at the end of the month.
Arroyo is survived by his daughters Bianca and Dina (from his first marriage) and Alelu (from his second marriage to Alicia "Aleli" Morales-Arroyo, former chairperson of the Philippine Stock Exchange).
Aleli Arroyo has left for London to bring Arroyo's remains home.
Arroyo finished his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, major in Finance, at the University of San Francisco, California in 1974.
He is the younger brother of former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
