Anyone using sky broadband. Its just arrived to my area and they are giving me a 15 day trial. Excited to try something faster and hopefully more reliable. Using smart bro now. Its decent but its not fast enough to watch streaming movies online Smiley

Not that great, but they are all just the same, aren't they?

if you're using smartbroadband and have morethan 1 pc at home (or is using a router), i highly recommend using linksy's wrt 330n or 300n. it'll make your broadband 12x faster ;D

Really?  I am using DLink Router.  Feels like SmartBro is crawling when all the 4 PCs are turned on...

Do you need special setting for the LinkSys router?  What do you mean 12x faster?!?  As in 12x faster?!?

Any opinions on sun broadband? I tried to access speedtest on their demo computer and the download speed is greater than 1mbps, pretty good considering the monthly fee is 799 only.

They also say 'unlimited usage' Im not sure if unlimited usage just means unlimited hours or unlimited bandwidth. If unlimited bandwidth ( read unlimited torrent downloading) its a good deal pricewise.

Wait, what is the difference when you say unlimited bandwidth and unlimited time usage?

Kindly educate us?

Hi adenip sounds good. Im planning on only using it at home btw. Hope it has a stong signal in rosario pasig area. Ping unlimited time usage means you can stay connected 24 hours a day if you like and you wont run out of hours. Unlimited bandwidth means you can upload/download as much as you like without limits.

For example sky broadband with all their hype about being 4 times faster than the fastest dsl..etc..RESTRICT bandwidth. They dont officially say so, but they greatly reduce download speed when you are using torrents which is the same as restricting bandwidth. people on 3mbps sky broadband connection are experiencing about 20 to 30kbps for torrent download.

This is the main reason why I will NOT be changing to sky broadband.

What a waste. I was thinking of switching to Sky Broadband's 2k per month 3mbps since it's cheaper to my current 3k per month 3 mbps DSL plan with PLDT.

Fernando is right about Sky Broadband trottling the bandwidth of their users who download torrents. This is the main complaint of other Pinoys in other forums. This reminds me of what the ISPs in the USA are doing. I guess I'll just stick with PLDT DSL for now inspite of frequent disconnections when I'm using it(around 1-2 per hour) but at least my download rate is around 200 kbps.
